Protested, Voting finally SOPA & PIPE Postponed

WASHINGTON - The number of protests against Bill (the Bill) anti-piracy Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA) finally get a good response. Voting or voting for the legislation would otherwise be delayed.

Reported by Reuters on Saturday (1/21/2012), this news was delivered by Senate Majority leader, Harry Reid, that he would postpone a vote formerly dijadawalkan for 24 January. Apparently this announcement as well as a stunning initial victory for Internet companies.

A similar statement made by the House Representatives Judiciary Committee, Lamar Smith, that the bill be postponed until there is a better deal again about the issue. "I have heard from the critics and are taking their concerns seriously, regarding proposed legislation to address the problem of online," Smith said in a statement.

"It's clear that we need to review the best approach is to address the problem of infringement, the stealing and selling the invention and American products," added Smith.

Either SOPA or PIPE, both intended to restrict access to an external site, which performs content piracy and counterfeit products, such as movies and music. This law is also a priority for entertainment companies, publishers, pharmaceutical companies and other industry groups. According to them the law is very important, to limit online piracy is believed to cost billions of dollars every year.

While SOPA & PIPE also has supporters, protests against the bill is also abundant and visible blanketed the Internet on Wednesday. Simple to perform actions such as blackout for 24 hours, while Google, Facebook, Twitter and other Internet services are also protesting the proposed legislation does not shut down though.

As a result after the protest, the bill makes some supporters withdrew their support.

While voting was postponed bill, Reid said in a statement on Friday, did not provide information regarding the date when the voting will be conducted.
